    Susan Haltmaier's Biography




    Susan Haltmaier has over 20 years of energy analysis and consulting experience. She has developed and guided numerous projects for corporate and government clients, analyzing the impact of emerging energy policies on global energy markets. Currently, she is working as an independent economic consultant for organizations in Boston, New York City and Detroit. From 1990 through 2000, she was a Principal responsible for Energy Industry Analysis for Standard and Poor's DRI. In this role, she conducted near-time analysis of energy market issues for Global Industry Insight, DRI's internet-based industry service. Previously, she managed both the Global Oil Practice and North American Energy Consulting for the DRI Energy Group.

    Ms. Haltmaier completed a major multi-client study on the future of the global electric power industry, supervising a global staff in a yearlong effort to produce the six-volume study. Subsequently, she supervised a number of electricity restructuring projects for individual utilities. Ms. Haltmaier also worked as the principal investigator in a series of transportation sector analyses for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In conjunction with this work, she was a member of an Expert Steering Group on the Environmental Implications of Supports to the Energy Sector at the Pollution Prevention and Control Division of the OECD's Environment Directorate.

    Prior to joining DRI in 1990, she was the securities analyst for the oil field service industry with Kidder, Peabody Co. in New York. Her earlier experience also includes over 10 years of energy analysis at Charles River Associates, Sun Oil Company and Chase Manhattan Bank. Ms. Haitmaier received her B.A. and M.Sc. degrees in economics from Wellesley College and the London School of Economics, respectively. She has also completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst certificate program and did graduate course work in accounting at MIT's Sloan School of Management. In her spare time, she instructs religious education classes for ninth and tenth graders and she has guided North Andover Middle School students in producing their yearbook.
